JK Labajo talked about his role in ‘Ako si Ninoy’
Singer JK Labajo admitted that initially, he had mixed feelings about portraying the character of former Senator Ninoy Aquino in the movie Ako si Ninoy.
JK rose to fame after joining The Voice Kids in 2014. From that, he was given several stints in music and he did acting stints as well. This year, he plays the lead character in the movie by director Vince Tanada about Ninoy Aquino.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, JK admitted that he had mixed emotions when the project was given to him. He felt happy but at the same time, he was scared.
He said that first and foremost, he is a singer and acting comes secondary only. It has been a long time since his last acting project. It is also a fact that JK Labajo was born in 2001 and this is decades away from the time Ninoy was still alive. Although the singer knows Philippine history, the first thing that comes to mind when Ninoy is mentioned is the P500 bill.
JK had to wear a wig in this movie to hide his curly hair. The whole makeup process took two or three hours, including the covering of his tattoos. In order to prepare for his role, the singer watched a lot of historical documentaries.
He also acknowledges that this is a role of a lifetime and that the success of this project depends on him.
Ako si Ninoy also stars Sarah Holmes, Johnrey Rivas, Marlo Mortel, Cassy Legazpi, Joaquin Domagoso, Nicole Laurel, JM Yosures, Â Bodje Pascua, Pinky Amador, and others.
