Earthquake Camarines Norte: 4.6 Magnitude Quake Jolts Tinaga Island

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Camarines Norte, February 7, 2023

EARTHQUAKE CAMARINES NORTE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Tinaga Island, Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Camarines Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.6.

The earthquake that struck Camarines Norte, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 09:46 p.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Tinaga Island in Vinzons.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Camarines Norte was located at 14.44°North, 123.05°East – 010 km North 87° East of Tinaga Island (Vinzons) with a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, the following intensities and instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:

    • Daet, Mercedes, Talisay, and Vinzons, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity III
    • Jose Panganiban, Labo, and Paracale, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity II
    • Nabua, Camarines Sur

  • Intensity V
    • Mercedes, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity IV
    • Daet, Camarines Norte
  • Intensity III
    • Ragay, Camarines Sur
  • Intensity II
    • Guinayangan, and Polillo, Quezon; City of Tabaco, Albay; City of Iriga, Camarines Sur
  • Intensity I
    • Gumaca, Lopez, Mauban, and Mulanay, Quezon; City of Legazpi, Albay
