Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Masbate, February 6, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Masbate today, Monday, February 6, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a different part of Masbate. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake that struck Masbate today, Monday, February 6, 2023, at 01:52 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Dimasalang.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Masbate was located at 12.19°North, 123.86°East – 001 km South 29° East of Dimasalang with a depth of focus of 010 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity as well as instrumental intensity were recorded of the said quake.
