For the internet, January seems to have gone on forever. January has 31 days, making it one of the longest months of the year. March, May, July, August, October, and December also have this amount of days.

Why does the month of January feel the “longest” for some people?

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach was among the most recent to share her feelings about the month’s perceived length.

“January pa din…. tapos January pa din bukas. Ang haba ng month na ‘to. Haha!” she tweeted on January 30. The post of the beauty queen garnered 20,000 likes and over 4,590 retweets so far.

Ayn Bernos, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Top 16 finalist, also stated that she cannot wait for the first month of the year to be over.

“I told myself no checking out online until 2.2, nakakaloka ang haba ng January, ANUNA,” Ayn tweeted on January 29.

The February 2 shopping sale on e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Lazada, where buyers may get significant discounts, free shipping, brand deals, and other promotions, is referred to as 2.2.

Meanwhile, Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez simply tweeted: “January 47, 2023” with a raised arm emoji. The tweet earned 31,000 likes and 5,703 retweets so far.

Kapuso Network’s noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga” echoed Pinoys’ feelings about January by posting a Facebook photo of one of its hosts, Maine Mendoza, looking bewildered and confused.

“Bakit kaya feeling natin ang haba ng January, Dabarkads?” its caption reads with a thinking face emoji.

In a video posted on January 30, psychologist Riyan Portuguez of “Your Millenial Psychologist” noted that when the brain receives a large amount of information, it takes longer to process it. She said it has to do with processing new information in January when people make objectives for themselves as part of their New Year’s resolutions.

“Kaya mas matagal din ang pag-perceive natin or pagtanggap natin ng oras,” she said

“Kapag walang bagong information tayong natatanggap, mas mabilis mag-proseso ‘yung brain kasi very familiar na sa kanya ito,” Portuguez added.
