The agency covers the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Malabon, Taguig, Navotas and San Juan and the municipality of Pateros.
An intense commotion occurred in Tondo, Manila during MMDA’s sidewalk clearing operation after the barangay chairman reportedly punched one of the clearing personnel on Tuesday (January 25, 2023).
MMDA metro aide identified as Mark Anthony Medios said he was ordered to remove the vendor carwash in the area for blocking the right of way. The owner working as a barangay captain arrived and apprehended them.
The raging barangay chairman claimed that he owns the vendo carwash and even challenged the MMDA employee to issue a memorandum against him. The latter even argued with MMDA Task Force Special Operations and Anti-Colorum Unit head Bong Nebrija.
The barangay captain allegedly punched Medios during the clearing operation. The clearing personnel failed to react due to the incident.
MMDA went to the police station and reported the incident. Nebrija also sought help from DILG to take legal action against the ‘punong barangay’. The suspect will face a direct assault case.
