What do the numbers say about the return of Vhong Navarro on It’s Showtime?
Entertainment columnist Rey Pumaloy shared his thoughts on the welcome episode of the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime for host Vhong Navarro.
On Monday, Vhong returned to the show weeks after he was granted his temporary freedom. It was an emotional episode as he was welcomed by his co-hosts and the “Madlang Pipol.”
During that episode, Vhong shared he was not watching their noontime show because he misses his co-hosts so much. He also said that he pities other detainees who have no visitors. His co-hosts gave their messages to him as they will be together once again in the show.
Kapamilya fans expressed happiness for Vhong Navarro’s return but there were also who bashed him due to the case filed by model Deniece Cornejo against him. Deniece even throws shades at him.
In line with Vhong’s comeback, Rey Pumaloy shared a write-up. He said in his article in Abante Entertainment on January 17, that “Vhong walang dating, lagapak ang pagbalik ‘Showtime.’”
Pumaloy said that it made him wonder that even though Vhong’s return was a trending topic on social media, reactions, likes, and shares on It’s Showtime Pages did not reach a big number.
“Sa iba’t ibang mga photo, video ni Vhong sa show ay humakot lang sa mahigit 1,000 ang like. Sa Twitter ng ABS-CBN News ay pumalo lang sa 3.5K ang like. Sa account naman ni Vhong ng photo nila ng grupo ng Showtime ay 7.5K lang ang nakuhang like,” the entertainment columnist said.
Rey Pumaloy pointed out that these numbers are not enough to say that Vhong Navarro’s return to It’s Showtime was a “pasabog.”
