Mallgoers Earn Reactions from Netizens for Occupying Rider’s Lounge
Several mallgoers occupy the rider’s lounge leaving a delivery worker to patiently stand up beside the lounge waiting for a vacancy.
Riders’ lounges have been placed in certain malls across the country to accommodate the increasing number of food delivery riders. In order to provide delivery riders with a place to relax as they wait for their orders, businesses have added tables, charging ports, and even free wifi to the aforementioned lounges.
However, as the country’s situation gradually returned to normal, riders ceased to use the aforementioned lounge because it was occasionally already occupied by mall customers.
After a picture taken inside a mall in Sta. Lucia, the topic of riders’ welfare unexpectedly became popular on social media. The photo taken in A Rosa Laguna showing various individuals using the delivery riders’ designated area circulates online.
The Facebook page “Pictures from Filipino Profiles” has shared the photo of mallgoers who occupied the rider’s lounge meant for delivery employees. The post goes viral and elicits comments from the netizens.
In the photo, some mallgoers were fully relaxed while enjoying the free internet access and charging their devices inside the rider’s lounge. However, a delivery rider can be seen standing up beside the lounge.
The mall’s management immediately take action and informed the mall visitors that they are not allowed to use the rider’s lounge following the incident. Delivery workers expressed their gratefulness to the mall’s management for their quick response.

Mall owners know how to take care of the riders who bring business to their companies and concessioners. About regular people, I think they also need similar places to hang out and wait for family members who are doing the actual shopping like the lolos or lolas and kids. Please provide adequate places for them too. Thank you po.

Malls should also provide these kind of spaces sa mga regular mallgoers (kahit mga benches lang para makaupo sila), mga senior citizens (like those rocking chairs na lounge sa mga SM malls), mga dogs (if pet-friendly) and mga kiddos para iwas na mag-agawan sa spaces.
