Filipino-American R’Bonney Gabriel of the USA just won Miss Universe 2022! But before she was given the crown, R’Bonney and the rest of the Top 3 finalists Miss Dominican Republic Andreina Martinez and Miss Venezuela Amanda Dudamel Newman, had to answer the question: If you win Miss Universe, how would you work to demonstrate this as an empowering and progressive organization?

Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel
Answer: “ Well, I will use it to be a transformational leader. As a very passionate designer, ive been sewing for 13 years, I used fashion as a force for good. In my industry, I’m cutting down on pollution through recycled materials when I make my clothing, I teach sewing classes to women to help them survive human trafficking and domestic violence. And I say that because it’s important to invest in others, invest in our community, and use our unique talent to make a difference. We have something special and we can plant those seeds to [time’s up by this point] other people in our life. We transfrorm them and we use that as a vehicle for change.“
Miss Dominican Republic Andreina Martinez
Answer: “I understand that Miss Universe organization is looking for an ambassador, somebody who is able to communicate a message. I have been working for women’s rights for as long as I can remember. It’s been my actual day every single day. Im here to demonstrate that no matter where you come from, your background does not define you, your courage and determination do. And I will show that by working every single day, show my initiative and determination. Thank you.“
Miss Dominican Republic Andreina Martinez
Answer: “If I get to win Miss Universe, I will follow the legacy that many women across the universe has shown. To be part of this organization. Because Miss Universe has demonstrated that they choose women who inspire with their messages and transform with their actions and that’s precisely what I’d like to do. But I’m a designer of dreams as a woman. Thank you so much.“
