3 Aspin Dogs Rescued from Operation Against Illegal Meat Trader in Bulacan
Police authorities rescued three (3) Aspin or Asong Pinoy dogs supposed to be sold by illegal meat traders in Bulacan.
In an entrapment and rescue operation, police in Bulacan apprehended a 53-year-old man for allegedly selling dog meats. According to the complaint, the defendant was arrested with three dogs that were supposed to be sold to his client in San Rafael for use as meat.
Bulacan Police Chief PCol. Relly Arnedo identified the suspect as Robert Benavidez, a married caretaker from Barangay San Roque. According to the report, the operation of the Bulacan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bulacan, along with the San Rafael police and some Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc staff, took place at 2:25 p.m. on January 12, in Hulo, Barangay San Roque.
As a result, officials were able to free the three Aspins from the suspect’s clutches. According to the article, the rescued animals are now in the care of the aforementioned nonprofit organization.
The suspect is alleged to be involved in the selling of dogs and their meat, which is frequently processed into meat in cold locations and during the winter. While in the custody of the CIDG, the suspect faces the related case for documentation and disposition.
