At the press conference of his 45th anniversary concert entitled Composer Ka Lang, Louie Ocampo revealed the unexpected story behind his 1984 hit song Tell Me. According to the veteran composer, he wrote the song when he got his heart broken in 1983 when his girlfriend, “Anna”, broke up with him.

Louie shared that he was 23 years old then while Anna was 15 years old. He admitted that he was “head over heels” then and there was a time that he had to leave for the States for a concert tour. He was sad and was not comfortable with the distance between him and his then girlfriend so he called her every day. However, on the day he was going home, she told him that she did not love him anymore.

“Haaa? Teka… how can that be? What did I do? How can you say just like that? Tell me, what did I do? Why? Why?… Sa eroplano, hu hu hu! Iyak ako nang iyak,” the song composer revealed.

Louie Ocampo further shared that he went straight to Anna’s house when he arrived home. He had a lot of questions but she did not want to talk to him and answer him.

“I said exactly, ‘Tell me. Where did I go wrong? What did I do? How can you change your mind just like that when you have said that this will be forever,'” he said.

According to the veteran composer, Anna knows that the song Tell Me was about what happened to them. They saw each other 10 years ago and she’s proud of him.
