Father and Daughter Died after Drowned During Family Outing in La Union
A supposed happy family outing turns into an unfortunate event after a father and his daughter drown on a beach in La Union.
According to the report of Inquirer, on Monday, December 26, 2022, a family went on a post-Christmas trip to a beach in Baccuit Sur hamlet in Bauang, La Union province. However, the ostensibly joyous family outing turned tragic when two of their members perished.
According to a police complaint, a man and his daughter drowned while swimming at the beach. George Gines, 67, and Geosa Gines-Osillo, 26, were identified as the victims by police. They were both Baguio City residents.
The tragedy began around 4 p.m. when the two were swimming with other members of their family. According to the police report, Osillo was washed away by large waves.
According to witnesses, his father attempted to rescue her but was trapped in the strong currents and killed in a deep section of the sea. They were rushed to the Ilocos Training Regional and Medical Center but were pronounced dead upon arrival, according to the police.
