PAGASA Says Amihan and Shearline to Affect PH Weather Condition
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line and northeast monsoon will bring rains over most parts of the Philippines.
On Monday (December 26, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and amihan will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Shear Line will be affecting Visayas while the Northeast Monsoon will be affecting Luzon.
The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.
“Nakakaranas po ng maulan na panahon sa malaking bahagi ng Kabisayaan, sa ilang lalawigan ng Mindanao at kasama na rin ang lalawigan ng Palawan. ‘Yan po ay dulot ng shear line,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.
Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula. Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Palawan, and the rest of Visayas and Caraga will experience similar weather conditions.
The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon.
“Nakakaranas po ng malamig na simoy ng hangin na may kasamang pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon dahil sa napakalakas na amihan,” Aurelio added.
The localized thunderstorms will also bring similar weather condition over rest of Mindanao.
The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy to intense and at times torrential rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions seaboards of Luzon, Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The rest of Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
