Lady Owner Expresses Fear After Pantot or Palawan Stink Badger Enters Her Store
A lady owner has expressed a sigh of relief after a pantot or Palawan stink badger entered her store “Salamat at hindi umutot”.
The Palawan stink badger, pantot or tuldo in the Batak language, is a carnivoran of the western Philippines named for its resemblance to badgers, its powerful smell, and the largest island to which it is native Palawan.
They live primarily in the grasslands and cultivated areas on these islands and use local shrubs for shelter. This mammal usually emits a stinking odor once it felt a threat or danger as a part of its defense mechanism.
Recently, the Facebook page “Palawan News” shared video footage of a Palawan stink badger spotted inside a store looking for food. The video immediately spread like a wildfire online and earns reactions from the netizens.
In the video, it can be seen that the ‘Pantot’ or Palawan stink badger entered a small store around. The small mammal seems to be looking for food inside the store leaving the lady store owner and her colleague in fear.
The store owner identified as Noemi Murillo found the “Pantot” inside the store around 8:00 pm on December 16, 2022 (Friday). Murillo said that the flooding in her backyard might be the reason why the creature entered her store.
After 30 minutes, Murillo expressed a sigh of relief as the stink badger leave the vicinity without leaving a stinking odor.
