LTO Employee and 2 Alleged Fixer Accomplices Arrested in Quezon City
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) authorities arrested an employee and two (2) alleged fixer accomplices in Quezon City.
In a recent coordinated operation in Quezon City, one LTO employee who operates as a “fixer” and two accomplices were nabbed. While the case is still being examined, the LTO has not made public the identity of one of their employees who was arrested, as well as two other colleagues.
The suspects are now being held at Camp Karingal in Quezon City by the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU). Authorities said they tracked the three from the city’s LTO Central Office to 11th Jamboree Street, Timog Avenue in QC, where they were apprehended.
Based on the report, the accused are charged with violating Republic Acts 11032, 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees), and Articles 210 (Direct Bribery) and 315 (Swindling/Estafa).
Meanwhile, in a Region 6 entrapment operation, the LTO apprehended some alleged fixers and their collaborators who were still working for the agency. According to the LTO, the police and their Western Visayas department apprehended the fixer who was selling the Certificate of Completion of the Theoretical Driving Course for P2,000.
The suspect was accompanied by two other individuals who work for the LTO-accredited driving school. While the investigation is ongoing, the LTO-accredited driving school involved has also been closed.
The suspects are already in custody and will face accusations of falsification under Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code and violation of Republic Act (RA) 11032, also known as the “Ease of Doing Business Law,” which changes Republic Act (RA) 9485, also known as the “Anti-Red Tape Law.”
