Carmi Martin was asked about Roderick Paulate
Actress Carmi Martin has this reaction when asked about the guilty verdict on the graft case filed against her former co-host Roderick Paulate.
This legal battle that the actor-turned-politician is facing started when he was serving as a councilor in Quezon City. He was accused of having 30 ghost employees from July to November 2010.
When the Sandiganbayan released the decision, Roderick was sentenced to a prison term ranging from 10.5 to 62 years. In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Roderick’s former co-host in Tonight with Dick and Carmi (1988-1991) was asked about this.
Carmi Martin and Roderick Paulate also worked together in the sitcom Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata (1991-1997). “Yun na nga! Yun na nga ang tinatanong sa akin! Kasama raw ako dun? Kasi, Dick and Carmi daw?!” the actress jokingly said but she immediately said sorry and gave her answer.
“I’m sorry to joke about it. I’m sorry to joke about it pero, you know, I text him. I told him, ‘Dick, alam ko naba-bother ka dito. I pray na malampasan mo ito. Pinagpe-pray kita,'” Carmi said.
She also said that she and Dick are both having maintenance now as they are about to reach the age of 60. Carmi said that she knows how Dick wound worries. The actress also believes that her former co-host was just victimized. She cited that there are big fans who are being caught.
When asked if they talked after the decision was released, Carmi said, “Hindi, e. Parang… noong una, tinext ko siya. I don’t know if he changed his cell number, hindi sumagot.” However, the actress said that she would send messages on Messenger and she would get replies from Roderick Paulate.
Carmi Martin admitted that she was saddened by her former co-host’s guilty verdict because his name has not been tarnished before.
