Coco Martin has a new movie with Jodi Sta Maria
Kapamilya actor Coco Martin said that he wants his new movie Labyu With An Accent with Jodi Sta Maria will be part of the effort to revive the movie industry in the Philippines.
Nowadays, movies are not just available in cinemas. With the advent of streaming platforms, it is much easier for movie lovers to watch their favorite films. This is one of the struggles that the movie industry is facing nowadays, especially movie houses.
Amid the pandemic, Pinoy productions have become so limited but the industry is slowly rising up as cinemas are open again. With this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Coco Martin said that he wants to take part in the effort to make the movie industry as lively as it was before.
“Naisip ko ‘yung project na ito kasi ‘di ba, almost three years tayong hindi nakalabas ng mga bahay natin tapos hindi tayo nakapanood ng sine, which is iyon ang tradisyon natin na kapag Pasko, ito ‘yung reunion natin ng mga barkada, asawa, anak,” the actor said during a recent interview based on the article in Bandera.
He also aims to help the movie industry, just like other entries in the MMFF 2022. Coco also expressed happiness that his friend Unkabogable Vice Ganda also has an entry this year. “Nakakatuwa kasi lahat nagtutulung-tulong sa industriya para makabalik tayo dito,” the actor said.
Having this in his mind, Coco said that he suggested a movie that will give inspiration to people because of the recent struggles that have happened in the lives of many.
“Siyempre, kung gagawa tayo ng pelikula, dapat ‘yung mapapaligaya natin sila, mapapatawa natin sila at mai-inspire natin sila,” he said, adding that the concept of their movie is “kumpletos-rekados.”
Coco Martin’s leading lady in the movie is Jodi Sta Maria. They are also joined by Joross Gamboa, Rochelle Pangilinan, Nikki Valdez, Nash Aguas, Marc Solis, John Medina, Bassilyo, and Nova Villa.
