Largest Active Volcano in the World “Mauna Loa” in Hawaii Spews Lava and Ashes

LARGEST ACTIVE VOLCANO IN THE WORLD – Hawaii’s Mauna Loa erupted for the first time in decades spewing lava and ashes.

Volcanic eruptions are among the natural occurences that cannot be precisely predicted only monitored. There are bureaus that monitor the behavior of volcanoes in every country.

With regards to volcanoes, the ones that erupt are the active volcanoes. The largest active volcano in the world is Mauna Loa which is found in Hawaii. It has not erupted for forty years until recently when it spewed ashes and lava.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the United States Geological Survey said that Mauna Loa erupted around 15 minutes prior to 11:45 p.m. local time Sunday or at 9:45 p.m. GMT Monday when the natural occurence was reported.

According to USGS, most of the lava flows are within the massive caldera in the summit but there can be risks to the nearby areas if the conditions would change. Despite remaining silent for 40 years, there were prior signs showing that there is building of an eruption.

The eruption of the largest active volcano in the world was visible from Kona which was 45 miles away from the volcano. It is a town on the west coast of the main island in Hawaii.

Based on the report, USGS said that lava continues to flow from the summit and overflows from the caldera. The natural occurrence led to the temporary closure of several roads in the region as well as the summit area.

As of this writing, there are no evacuation orders. More updates may be posted soon.
