Senator Lapid Files Resolution for the Recognition of Kylie Verzosa

Senator Lapid Criticized Over Resolution Filed for the Recognition of Kylie Verzosa

Action star turned politician Senator Lito Lapid files a resolution for the recognition of actress Kylie Verzosa.

Lapid submitted a resolution to the Senate appreciating and honoring actress-beauty queen Kylie Verzosa for her contribution to the country. For the leading role in the film “The Housemaid,” Kylie recently won the “Best Actress” prize at the 2022 Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards.

Lapid Resolution Kylie Verzosa

Verzosa is claimed to have earned Resolution No. 314 because of her outstanding performance in the aforementioned film. “The Housemaid” is an adaptation of a South Korean film of the same name, according to the article.

“Dapat lang na bigyang-parangal ang mga aktor gaya ni Kylie Verzosa sa kanilang mga pambihirang pagganap na nagpapakita sa buong mundo ng husay at galing ng mga Pilipino sa sining ng pag-arte,” said Lapid.

He argued that Filipino actors and actresses who have won prestigious awards from other nations ought to be commended for their excellent work.

The Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) are a “distinguished and annual red carpet and awards ceremony which honors distinguished personalities from both the Arab and international world, in recognition of their annual achievements and contributions towards committees and society’s betterment,” according to the website of the organization.

But as can be seen in the comments of an online news site, it appears to have drawn criticism from internet users. There hasn’t yet been a comment, remark, or response from Lapid or Verzosa about this.
