In one of her recent Instagram posts, the actress talked about forgiveness. She said that forgiving someone does not mean that you will also forget. “Yung babalik kayo sa dati as if nothing happened. Not true. Tingin mo nakalimutan ko na lahat ng masama na nangyari sa akin? Hindi ah…” she said.

Maricar Reyes, on the other hand, said that this is not that heavy anymore when she remembers because she was able to adjust already. She stressed that this is one of the things that she learned after surviving a controversy back in 2009.

The actress also said that forgiveness is the best beauty product but it is not easy for many people to do this. “I think it’s because we have some misconceptions about forgiveness,” she said.

Maricar also stressed that forgiveness does not mean that consequences will not come after. “Alam mo, years before my crisis, I told a lot of little lies and I never got caught. Yun nangyari sa akin, I think it’s partially because of all these lies. Nagpatong patong buong buhay ko tapos sumabog na lang siya sa mukha ko. It was my consequence for lying to myself and to others,” she explained.

The actress also said that if she forgives, it does not mean that she is better than the other person. Looking deep into her heart, she can say that she is not as clean as she thought she is. She said that she forgets this when the other person has done something wrong to her.

Maricar Reyes also stressed that forgiveness is a process and that it is not a one-time, big-time thing. She said that the deeper the hurt, the more difficult it is for a person to forgive and so the process is longer.

“So please be patient with yourself, don’t stop trying. Pag naramdaman mo na yung bitterness at yung pait sa puso mo, forgive ulit. Remember ulit. Nagkakamali ka din. Hihingi ka rin ng kapatawaran minsan,” she said.

The actress also reminded her social media followers to adjust their relationship, so that they would not experience the same pain again and again.
