Mel Tiangco was asked about Korina Sanchez
Kapuso veteran broadcaster Mel Tiangco reacted to rumors that she has a conflict with journalist-TV host Korina Sanchez.
Mel, before transferring to GMA, was one of the prominent news anchors of ABS-CBN. She entered the news and public affairs department of the Kapamilya network before Korina became part of the network.
Rumors surfaced that the two female broadcasters were not on good terms with each other. However, in a recent interview for Mel’s drama anthology show Magpakailanman, she was asked if she is willing to be interviewed by Korina.
To recall, in Korina Sanchez’s talk show Korina Interviews, her interview with journalist Karen Davila caught the attention of many netizens. For many years, rumors circulated that Korina and Karen have a conflict. They addressed this issue during the interview.
In line with this, based on the article in PEP, Mel Tiangco was also asked if she is willing to guest on Korina Interviews knowing that she has an exclusive contract with GMA.
“You know ang problema diyan… yes, number one yun. Di ba, hindi naman ako puwedeng lumabas sa ibang network? They’re very strict. It’s in my contract. Yun agad ang sasabihin ko sa kanya,” Mel said.
The Kapuso broadcaster said that even on YouTube, she is not allowed as it was stated in her contract that this is applicable on all platforms. On the other hand, the veteran broadcaster said that she has no conflict with Korina.
Mel stressed that she has no idea where the rumors came from. She even cited the time she and Korina met in Rome. “Nagkita kami sa Rome, oo. Ang layo niya, tumatakbo siya sa akin. Sabi niya, ‘Mama Mel! Mama Mel!’ Mama Mel ang tawag niya sa akin. Mama Mel. Lumapit pa siya,” she shared.
The Kapuso broadcaster added that the supposed issue just surfaced when she left ABS-CBN. Mel Tiangco also said that sometimes, she just got shocked by the rumors.
