Over P8.5 Billion Released to Police Personnel of PNP for Their Year-end Bonus

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has released P8.5 billion to their police officials and personnel for their year-end bonus.

This past Sunday, the PNP made the announcement that it had released a total of P8,502,008,690.81 for its 225,515 employees’ year-end bonuses and cash presents. According to PNP Chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr., the money come from the regular PNP Appropriations planned in the agency’s 2022 budget.

PNP Year-end Bonus

The aforementioned bonus and cash gifts, according to PNP Finance Service PBGen Bowenn Joey Masauding, are equal to one month’s base pay and P5,000. On November 15, 2022, it will be transferred to PNP employees’ Landbank ATM Payroll Accounts.

Based on the report, the bonus that exceeds P90,000 is taxable under the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law, also known as the T.R.A.I.N. Law (Republic Act 10893). All Police Commissioned Officers and Non-Uniformed Personnel with Salary Grade 18 Step 1 are therefore subject to the Year End Tax Adjustment.

All impacted PNP employees who have attained the required net take-home wage have been informed to pay off any outstanding loans for November and December 2022. According to Azurin, the typical monthly withholding tax deduction will carry over until the January 2023 pay period.

Azurin, on the other hand, declared that PNP employees who were administratively charged and convicted by a final and executory judgment were not eligible for the year-end bonus and cash gift.
