Father Hires Lea Salonga To Sing Disney Songs At Daughter’s Wedding Reception
LEA SALONGA – Tony Award winner Lea Salonga surprised a Disney fan at her wedding.
Lea Salonga, whose real name is Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga, is a Filipina singer, actress, and columnist. She is referred to as the “Pride of the Philippines.”
She is most known for her work in musical theater, supplying the singing voices for two Disney Princesses (Mulan and Jasmine), and appearing on television and as a recording artist.
Recently, Lea Salonga surprised a Disney fan at her wedding. In the video uploaded by Matt & Meredith Films on YouTube, the bride’s dad stated “anything Disney meant the world” to his daughter.
He wanted someone from one of his daughter’s favorite movies to be present when they dance. Lea Salonga came to mind when he thought of “Aladdin.”

Lea Salonga showed up and performed live, not only “A Whole New World” from Aladdin but also “Reflection” from Mulan.
“I have done the singing voices for two Disney princesses, which is why I’m here…”
“Lucky for us, because she’s such a big fan, a couple of her favorite songs happened to be the ones I got to do,” Lea said.
Before leaving, the Pinay singer gave the bride a big hug and wished her well for the new chapter in her life.

Lea was recently recognized as one of the TIME100 Impact awardees for serving as the “Voice of Disney Princesses” and serving as a “role model for children of color.”
Lea, who provided the voices for the Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan, told TIME Magazine that she is delighted to “be that for someone else,” particularly the younger generation. Her Tony Award-winning performance in Miss Saigon in 1989 was another example of how a young person from Southeast Asia may achieve great things.
