Some Family Members of Slain Percy Lapid Allegedly Received Death Threats
ROY MABASA – The brother of the slain broadcaster Percy Lapid revealed that some of the family members received death threats.
Veteran journalist Roy revealed on Facebook that some members of Percival Mabasa’s family are receiving threats on their life. He made this disclosure as the preliminary investigation into the murder complaint filed against the four people reportedly engaged in the murder got underway on Monday, October 24 at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
He added that despite numerous trials and threats, the fight goes on because there are numerous “extortionists and exploiters who want to earn money on the deceased in whatever manner.”
Self-confessed gunman Joel S. Escorial participated in the preliminary inquiry performed by the DOJ on Monday into the murder complaint brought against individuals allegedly responsible for the death of Percy Lapid, based on the report.
On November 4, the subsequent preliminary inquiry will take place. The other specified respondents, in addition to Escorial, are the brothers Edmon and Israel Dimaculangan, as well as a person only known as “Orly” or “Orlando.”
Escorial asked for the preliminary probe through his attorney. Escorial “voluntarily renewed his affidavit (Extra Judicial Confession), confessing alongside others, to the murder of Percy Lapid,” according to the DOJ, in the inquest hearings on October 18.
