Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija – The grade 7 students in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija used banana leaves as ‘paper’ during the quiz.
The Facebook page “Go Philippines” has shared photos of grade 7 students who used banana leaves as ‘paper’ during their quiz. The post goes viral and elicits reactions from the online community.
In the photos, it can be seen that young students were using banana leaves as their test papers during a quiz in Araling Panlipunan. The kids happily strike a pose while flexing their banana leaves after the test.
“Ayon sa mga datos 24 na puno ang kailangan para makagawa ng 1 toneladang papel, bilang tugon, ang mga mag-aaral ng Grade 7 Jessie ay gumamit ng mga dahon para sa isa nilang pagsusulit sa Araling Panlipunan,” Teacher Herbert said.
According to Teacher Herbert, he instructed the students to bring banana leaves and use them as paper. He implements this activity to emphasize the importance of taking care of natural resources.
“Dito ay napahalagahan nila ang pangangalaga sa ating likas na yaman. Hindi rin natin maikakaila na ang mga papel na ginagamit para sa pag-aaral ay isa rin sa naidadagdag na solid waste sa ating bansa,” the teacher added.
The educator said that the leaves used by students will be turned into fertilizer. He is proud that he could contribute to society and help to conserve paper.
