Chito Miranda "Hugot" About Estrada's Proposal To Ban Foreign Shows

After Estrada’s statements, Chito Miranda weighs in on the lack of support for shows in the country.

CHITO MIRANDA – Senator Jinggoy Estrada plans to propose a ban on Korean Dramas and this is the reaction of Chito Miranda.

Currently creating a loud buzz online is the plan of Senator Jinggoy Estrada to consider banning Korean telenovelas in the country. He stressed that Filipino-made shows must be promoted instead.

“Ang aking obserbasyon pagpatuloy tayo nagpapalabas ng Korean telenovela, ang hinahangaan ng ating mga kababayan ay itong mga Koreano at nawawalan ng trabaho at kita yung ating mga artistang Pilipino.”

This is what he said during the hearing on the proposed 2023 budget of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

This has also promoted Korean products in the country. He put stress that instead of promoting foreign shows and products, the people of the country must patronize their own shows and products.

But this consideration has stirred a loud buzz online. Netizens retaliated and insisted that there are other ways to support the local industry without banning foreign works.

The following day, he clarified that he has nothing against it. He is just frustrated because people are too eager to support the works of others that it already allowed our deterioration.

He then added that Korea’s success is “rooted in their love of country” which is something Filipinos should emulate as our local industry is, as he said, “barely surviving.”
