It was earlier reported that the camp of the actor filed for motion of review. The court entered a “not guilty” plea. He attended the arraignment virtually while Cornejo was represented by her relatives. Based on the report, currently, there is still no commitment order on where the actor must be detained.
Deniece Cornejo Files Petition To Transfer Vhong Navarro To Taguig City Jail
The camp of Deniece Cornejo has this recent petition
Model Deniece Cornejo wants actor Vhong Navarro to be transferred to Taguig City Jail from the National Bureau of Investigation detention center.
Vhong surrendered to NBI after an arrest warrant against him was issued for acts of lasciviousness. He posted bail for this. However, he was not able to leave when the rape case with no recommended bail was issued for the rape case filed by Deniece.
The actor-host has been inside the detention center for almost two weeks now. In a recent interview, his wife Tanya Bautista shared that Vhong Navarro is really sad inside the detention center. However, in a previous interview, she mentioned that it would be worrisome for them once the actor-host will be transferred to Taguig City Jail.
Based on the article in Manila Bulletin, the camp of Deniece Navarro has already filed a petition to the court regarding this matter. The model, through her lawyer Howard Calleja who is now her led counsel, filed an urgent motion with the Taguig RTC Branch 69 on Sept. 28. This petition to the court was requesting the transfer of Navarro from the NBI detention facility to the Taguig City Jail.
Deniece’s camp stressed that when the Court of Appeals denied the Motion for Reconsideration that Vhong filed, this means that the warrant of arrest must be fully and properly executed.
“The Rules of Court provide that the arresting officer should bring the accused to the nearest police station or jail without unnecessary delay. The law does not provide that the accused should be brought to the NBI. Furthermore, the only persons who may be detained at the National Bureau of Investigation are those arrested for in flagrante delicto,” the petition stated.
Denice Cornejo stressed that “an accused should be detained where the arrest warrant was issued.” The warrant of arrest was issued in Taguig and Vhong’s case will be arraigned in Taguig as well. With this, the camp of Deniece stressed that the accused should be detained in the Taguig City Jail.
