DSWD PROGRAM FOR STREET CHILDREN, INDIGENOUS PEOPLE – Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo confirmed that they are preparing for the program.
Undeniably, there are a lot of street children in most areas in the Philippines. They either make money by assisting drivers during parking or they would seek for alms from other people. There are also a lot of indigenous people in the streets including Badjaos and Aetas who ask for some money from other people. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, during the budget hearing at the Senate, Social Welfare Sec. Erwin Tulfo said that they are already working on a program that will benefit the street children and save them from harm. The government agency also plans to give the indigenous people source of income so they won’t need to go to the city during Christmas season to ask money from other people.
