Deniece Cornejo Case: Atty. Ferdinand Topacio “Dissociates” Himself

The legal counsel of Deniece Cornejo resigns from her case.

DENIECE CORNEJO – Atty. Ferdinand Topacio will no longer stand with Deniece Cornejo in her case versus Vhong Navarro.

The camp of Vhong Navarro filed a motion asking the court in Taguig to let him remain in the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center. They are concerned about the actor’s safety should he be transferred to the city jail.

Judge Loralie Cruz of Taguig RTC Branch 69, meanwhile, junked the motion. It stated in the document that the actor failed to provide further explanation and proof for his plea. In a previous article, Ogie Diaz shared his understanding of why the actor would fear being transferred to jail.

But just recently, in a report from ABS-CBN, a turn of events happened in the camp of Deniece Cornejo.

Atty. Ferdinand Topacio is not Cornejo’s legal counsel anymore due to a fundamental difference. Accordingly, “in good conscience and ethics”, he cannot continue his services, anymore for her.

He stated, “I wish to state that I am henceforth dissociating and distancing myself from the prosecution of Mr. Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro in the r&pe case filed by Ms. Deniece Cornejo against him.”

Just previously, Topacio pushed the transfer of detained TV host and comedian to the city jail. He also threatened to file contempt charges against the actor-comedian’s wife Tanya Bautista and lawyer Alma Mallonga.

Last August 31, Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office filed cases against Navarro. Cornejo’s camp petitioned for a review of her cases against the TV host and it was heard.

Two warrants of arrest were issued and on both charges, Navarro voluntarily surrendered.
