SUPER TYPHOON KARDING – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said parts of Quezon province and NCR will experience a “very intense typhoon” with very strong winds.

Super Typhoon Karding (International name: Noru), is the Philippines’ 11th tropical cyclone for 2022. It is expected to hit Central Luzon with torrential rain and fierce winds.

Northern Luzon and Southern Luzon, including Metro Manila, are also preparing for the passage of Typhoon Karding on Sunday, September 25.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned Cagayan and nearby cities of Karding. The Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that they were ready for the possible damage of the typhoon.

Typhoon Karding is still rapidly intensifying, and the PAGASA issued a warning that it is now “increasingly likely that it could make landfall as a super typhoon. The weather bureau raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 over Polillo Island and the extreme northern portion of Quezon (the northern and central portions of General Nakar, and the northeastern portion of Infanta).

On Sunday, September 25, around 5 a.m., PAGASA reported that Karding’s maximum sustained winds had climbed to 155 kph from just 140 kph three hours earlier. From 170 km/h, the gustiness has increased to 190 km/h.

Signal number three is in effect for Metro Manila and other parts of Southern and Central Luzon. Signal No. 4 is up for other areas of Central and Southern Luzon

Pagasa warned that a “very intense typhoon” with very powerful winds would hit these places. “Karding” was discovered before noon around 175 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon. It had winds with a maximum sustained speed of 195 kph in the center and gusts as high as 240 kph.
