BALIWAG LECHON MANOK – The Baliwag Lechon Manok released an official statement after earning backlash due to “NO TATTOO” job advertisement.
People get tattoos for a variety of reasons, including attention, artistic freedom, rebellion, self-expression, remembrance of spiritual or cultural traditions, identification with a group, and even drunken impulsiveness.
Some people permanently mark themselves to serve as a reminder of deceased family members, proverbs, religious verses, or the names of their present relatives or significant others. Many people get tattoos to visually advertise their identity and/or group connection, while others use them to improve their se*ual prowess or feed their exhibitionist side.
Tattoo acceptance is becoming more common but there are still companies that don’t accept tattooed employees. Just recently, a viral photo of a job opening at Baliwag Lechon Manok has drawn criticism from netizens where it is clear that applicants with tattoos will be rejected. This was spotted in a now-deleted post of Baguio City’s Public Information Office.
A Facebook user called the attention of the tattoo community this Tuesday and encouraged them not to patronize a popular lechon manok brand due to alleged discrimination in their hiring process.
Attached to the viral post, you can see the announcement where the said brand is looking for a grillman/food handler, cashier/receptionist, and cook. The bold qualification on both grillman and cook is eye-catching: no tattoo.

After drawing criticism, Baliwag Lechon Manok issued a statement and apologized to the public. They also assured that the lessons learned from the said mistake will be reflected in their next job openings in the future.
“We do not discriminate against anyone regardless of their personal preferences, particularly in this instance, with regard to having tattoos,” the lechon manok brand said.
