PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rainshowers and Thunderstorms Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rainshowers and thunderstorms over some parts of the country.

On Monday (September 19, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Southwest Monsoon will be affecting the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon while the Localized Thunderstorms will be affecting Northern Luzon.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the northern portion of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Abra, Benguet, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao and Aurora.

PAGASA state weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said that the rest of Luzon will have calmer skies with likelihood of rain from afternoon to evening.

“Samantala, iyong nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon ay magiging maganda at maaliwalas ang panahon pero may tsansa pa rin ng mga isolated na pag-ulan dahil sa thunderstorm,” Aurelio added.

The weather agency has also warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have a slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
