Derek Ramsay is no longer a Kapuso
Actor Derek Ramsay ended his exclusive contract with GMA and here is the reason behind his decision.
From being a Kapamilya, Derek signed a contract with the Kapuso network in April 2019. His first major project after that contract signing was the series The Better Woman with his ex-girlfriend actress Andrea Torres. It aired from July to September that year.
Amid the pandemic, Derek chose to prioritize his safety and decided not to accept projects. Back in January 2020, the actor shared that he and GMA agreed to freeze his contract, based on the article in PEP.
In a recent interview, Derek Ramsay revealed that he no longer has a contract with the GMA. “Sa GMA contract ko, out na ako sa GMA contract ko. I was able to part ways with GMA. I had one and a half years more. GMA understood and really respected my wishes na, for now, ayoko na,” the actor said.
He is also thankful that the Kapuso network granted his request and that they have much respect for one another. When asked if he bought out his contract with the Kapuso network, the actor refused to make a comment about this.
He said that he is not allowed to say anything about this but all he can say is that there is respect from both camps and the network understood his position.
“It’s not, like, I have anything against them or they have something against me, wala, none of that. They really see how happy I am with my life and they see my priorities really have changed,” the actor explained.
Right now, Derek Ramsay is concentrating on his role as a husband and a father. He said that he is also thinking about the welfare of Ellen Adarna and Elias now, as well as his son Austin and not just himself. The actor also shared that he is thinking to change his career path as he is leading towards the business world now.
