ABS-CBN executive speaks about the LizQuen tandem
Fans observed that ABS-CBN was not able to maximize the LizQuen tandem of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil amid the fact that the network’s franchise was not renewed.
Liza and Quen are among the most popular and A-list tandems of the Kapamilya network. Their last project together was the series Make It With You which was discontinued due to the challenges brought by the pandemic.
This year, Liza officially signed a contract with James Reid’s Careless Music and she is now being managed by his team. Her decision was prompted by her dream to pursue a career in Hollywood that she is beginning to fulfill now.
Previously, Enrique said that as of now, there will be no LizQuen project, as he expressed support for Liza’s Hollywood career. This was confirmed by ABS-CBN Film Production Inc. head Kriz Anthony Gazmen, based on the article in Inquirer.
“Of course, every time we do projects, we first consider the ‘gods’—I feel that KathNiel and LizQuen are already gods in ABS-CBN. We have presented several projects to Liza and Enrique, and they were very open. There were so many pitches but, for some reason, the timing was never right,” Gazmen said as many people observe that the TV network was not able to maximize the love team during the time that it needed help the most.
The network’s executive also shared that they were about to shoot a project when the pandemic hit the world and the reel and rea-life tandem were concerned about their health. He added that there were discussions back and forth until a new project came. Then, Liza decided to pursue a career in Hollywood.
“Liza and Enrique will now go their separate ways in terms of their career,” Gazmen said. He also shared that they recently met with the actor and he is ready to do projects on his own. The network’s executive also said that they still have offers for Liza but these will still depend on what will happen in the actress’s projects with James. Gazmen said that hopefully, the timing will work out.
