PAGASA releases an update about Super Typhoon Hinnamnor. Check it out below.
SUPER TYPHOON HINNAMNOR – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), issued an update.
In the 5 p.m. bulletin from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), it said that Hinnamnor further intensified into a super typhoon.
It was last located 1,485 km east northeast of extreme northern Luzon and still outside the Philippine area of responsibility. According to a previous article, Hinnamnor will enter PAR on Wednesday evening, August 31.
It has 185 kph maximum sustained winds and up to 230 kph gusts, said the state weather bureau PAGASA. Aurora, Calabarzon, and Camarines Norte will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, and Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience localized thunderstorms.
It will retain its super typhoon status as it will enter PAR. Hinnamnor is the first super typhoon to enter the country following Odette in 2021. This is also the fourth one overall since 2015.
And once it enters the PAR, it will be called “Henry”.
PAGASA also noted, “This tropical cyclone may continue to intensify over the sea south of Japan and may reach a peak intensity of 195 kph.”
The weather state bureau also added that they are not ruling out the possibility that Hinnamnor will absorb the circulation of a low-pressure area (LPA) called Tropical Depression Gardo which has already entered PAR.
Accordingly, the typhoon will move “southwestward toward the extreme northern Luzon area” and is expected to slow down as moves southwestward over the northern Philippine Sea.
There’s a slim chance that the typhoon will have a landfall.
