PAGASA Releases Latest Update on Typhoon Hinnamnor
GardoPH – The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Hinnamnor is expected to enter the country’s vicinity on Wednesday (August 31, 2022).
On Tuesday (August 30, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest update on Typhoon Hinnamnor. The weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday evening.
Hinnamnor has been last spotted 1,655 km east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 205 kph.
Hinnamnor is moving 30 kph in a westward direction. It has strong typhoon-force winds extending outwards up to 320 km from the center. It is expected to intensify rapidly and may even reach the Super Typhoon category.
The weather disturbance may become nearly stationary by Friday to Saturday. It will also bring rough coastal water conditions over the northern and eastern seaboard of Luzon. Sea ventures for small seacrafts might be risky.
“The extent of tropical cyclone winds of “HINNAMNOR” may continue to expand in the coming days as it moves towards the northern Philippine Sea. As such, the possibility of hoisting a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal over extreme Northern Luzon during the occurrence of this typhoon within the PAR region is not ruled out,” PAGASA said.
