Most Awaited Scene as Jane De Leon Turns Into Iconic Superhero

JANE DE LEON- The lead actress portray the iconic title character for the first time while flying in full battle gear, “Lipad Darna!” was the fitting title of the superhero series’ climatic episode on Friday.

In the episode of “Mars Ravelo’s Darna” airing on August 19, Narda (de Leon), an EMT starting her first day of work, experiences her baptism by fire when an earthquake strikes Nueva Esperanza. The “first Darna,” her late mother Leonor (Iza Calzado), instilled in Narda values of service and compassion for others, and Narda will stop at nothing to save those whose lives are in danger when a building collapses as a result of the tremor.

But Narda has limitations in her human form. She climbs a collapsed wall to aid a wounded man when an aftershock strikes, but as she does so, she falls to the ground and realizes that she lacks her mother’s abilities, or so she believes.

Based on the report of ABS-CBN news that, the Martean stone that gives Darna her powers drops from the sky, followed by an appearance of Leonor, signifying that Narda, who had previously rejected the role of being the “chosen” protector of the world, is now prepared to take on the role of the superhero.

Narda transforms into her warrior alter ego by swallowing the stone and shouted “Darna,” which has been an iconic image of Mars Ravelo comics since the 1950s. Now that she has the ability to fly, Darna uses it to save dozens of injured people inside the building. This heroic deed, which was captured on television, moved many and made Narda’s brother Ding suspicious (Zaijian Jaranilla).

Fans experienced an exciting Friday night viewing of the pivotal episode, which resulted in the hashtag #LipadDarna becoming a top Twitter trend not just in the Philippines but across the globe.

The report also mentioned that, Three years after she was first introduced as the lead actress of ABS-adaptation, CBN’s which overcame setbacks and a format change (from film to series), mostly because of the coronavirus pandemic, De Leon finally assumed her full Darna regalia.

“Mars Ravelo’s Darna,” directed by renowned director Chito S. Roo and starring Avel Sunpongco and Benedict Mique, airs weeknights on TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, CineMo, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
