Ex-VP Leni Robredo Commemorates Late Husband Jesse’s Death Anniversary
LENI ROBREDO – The former Vice President took to social media photos with her late husband, former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Jesse Robredo, on his 10th death anniversary.
Last August 18, 2012, countless hearts were left in grief when the chopper aboard the then-Interior Sec. Jesse Robredo was reportedly to have crashed off the coast of Masbate Island. He was supposedly off to Naga then and was eager to be with his family.
The lifeless body of the then-DILG Secretary was found three (3) days after the incident. He was survived by his wife, Atty. Ma. Leonor Gerona-Robredo who became the country’s vice president in 2016, and their three (3) children – Jessica Marie “Aika”, Janine Patricia “Tricia”, and Jillian Therese.
The wake of former Interior Sec. Jesse Robredo was held at the Archbishop’s Palace in Naga before it was transferred to Malacañang Palace. His remains were returned to Naga and were cremated and entombed at the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park.
Today marks the 10th death anniversary of the late former Sec. Jesse Robredo. His wife, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo, commemorated his death. Flowers and prayers were offered at the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park before the tomb of the late former DILG Secretary.
On her Instagram Stories, the former Vice President also posted photos of her together with her late husband. She stated, “10 years without Jesse”. Here’s her post:
The former Vice President is vocal that the death of her husband led her to a different level of public service. Prior to it, she practices her law profession by helping those people who cannot afford to obtain legal assistance. Following her husband’s death, she was elected a congresswoman and, in 2016, she became the 14th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines.
