An airport janitor identified as Nestor Palo was cleaning the arrival immigration area at NAIA Terminal 1 when he noticed a white envelope above the immigration table. It is the area wherein passengers fill out arrival forms.
Palo decided to check the envelope and discovered that it contains P20,000 cash and some arrival documents. The airport employee brought the envelope to the lost-and-found section of the NAIA Terminal 1, airport police department.
The airport police department performed an initial inventory of the items and found a health pass document containing a Japanese name. The authorities launched a follow operation to locate the owner.
Palo who works for a company providing cleaning services at NAIA Terminal 1 earns less than P12, 000 per month. As a contractual third-party employee, the worker did not even think to own the money he found inside the envelope and said that he has strong values.
