The toll gate employee apprehended the firetruck and even asked it to pay the fee, which causes a delay in the emergency operation. The driver even tried to complain and spent around three minutes at the toll gate.

Eventually, the management allowed the truck to pass without paying.

The Marikina Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade Volunteers wrote on its Facebook page that the incident was an “isolated case” and defended the cashier who was just performing her job.

TRB spokesperson Julius Corpuz has also released a statement regarding the incident and explained that the firetruck is private and not a government vehicle. However, NLEX made a policy to make the toll fee free during emergency situations.
