Vice Ganda was surprised by the introduction that a Miss Q&A contestant did

It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda apologized for the inappropriate joke that Miss Q and A contestant Dimple Ruiz said during the noontime show’s episode on August 2.

The Kapamilya noontime show is one of the live shows being aired in the Philippines. Live broadcasts of shows have certain rules to follow. There are certain words or acts not allowed on-air. People in front of the camera should be careful of this.

Since live broadcasts could not be edited anymore, there’s a huge responsibility under the shoulder of those in front of the camera, as well as for those who are on the production team. This scenario recently happened on It’s Showtime.

During the Miss Q and A segment, Dimple Ruiz introduced himself by making a muffled sound, based on the article in Inquirer. “Nagulat kayo ‘no? Akala niyo ngongo ako, mongoloid kaya ako,” he said. Vice Ganda interrupted the contestant and said, “Hindi ‘yan ang intro mo nung rehearsal ha?”

Then, Vice reminded the public that the views and opinions of contestants do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the host, the show, and the network. The Unkabogable Star apologized for what happened.

“In behalf of candidate No. 3, ngayon pa lamang ay humihingi na kami ng paumanhin sa mga maaaring mga na-offend o hindi nagustuhan ang mga sinabi niya sa simula, lalo na ang paggamit sa mga salitang ‘ngongo’ at ‘mongoloid.’ Hindi na natin ‘yon ginagamit,” he said.

After that, Vice approached the contestant and asked him to explain. Ruiz said sorry and admitted that he just added the said inappropriate joke. The comedian-host stressed that the contestant’s joke is unacceptable.

Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario added that sensitivity should be observed on air and that contestants should stick to the instructions from the production regarding what are the appropriate words on-air. Vice Ganda also said that there are politically incorrect terms and there are certain words not allowed to say on TV.
