Rico Blanco is set to conquer Araneta Coliseum with his music
Singer-songwriter Rico Blanco admitted that there is a risk that he has to encounter for his first solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum.
When it comes to concert venues, it has become a tacit standard among performers that holding a show at Araneta would be a milestone. For many years, the venue has housed many memorable events in music and this coming September, Rico will conquer the Araneta stage.
In a recent interview for his upcoming solo concert, based on the article in The Philippine Star, the former Rivermaya band member said that he is happy to announce this. “It’s been a while since I performed there, and I think for everyone it’s been a while na makanood uli tayo ng mga concert sa mga ganitong venue,” he said.
Rico Blanco’s concert will be on September 11 and this is produced by KDR Music House. Artists Zild Benitez and Ebe Dancel will join him as his guests. The singer-songwriter is also happy that slowly, the music scene in the Philippines is bouncing back amid the pandemic. From small venues like bars, bigger venues are being tapped for music events.
Since Araneta Coliseum is a big venue, Rico was asked if he is aware that this would be challenging for them when it comes to ticket sales because currently, the country is still handling the pandemic. “So, we are aware of those challenges, but someone’s gotta do it. Someone’s gotta start. I’m happy to take on that risk, with the support of our friends,” he said.
Rico Blanco also admits that this is not yet the time for many people to have the liberty to go out and go to places but they are also acknowledging the fact that many people are “really hungry to experience live music again in this way.” With this, he said that they will go for it.
The singer-songwriter also said that trying things for the first time is part of his career. For him, challenges are opportunities to bring about new things and a new way of doing things.
