Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marilou Marquez informed Camalig Mayor Diano Ibardolaza last June 18 about her plan to resign from office. In a letter, the Vice Mayor in Camarines Sur cited “personal reason” as the cause behind her decision to resign from office.

Marquez declined interviews with the media regarding her reason to resign from office. She has served as the mayor of Camalig for nine (9) years prior to running for the vice mayoralty position in the city.

According to the report, speaking to Bossing FM, the Vice Mayor in Camarines Sur who resigned from her post a little past two (2) weeks since she assumed office revealed that she has tainted relationships with the Mayor and seven of the eight councilors.

While the former Vice Mayor did not reveal the specific issue, she claimed that she has lowered her pride for them to be fine as she values the team. However, according to her, she sees that the relationship is no longer healthy and she feels that she is alone in the council.

Marquez also said that the stress she feels emotionally is affecting her health. She expressed that she is giving all she can to fulfill her duties.

“Ang stress ko emotionally. I’m a strong personality but tao lang din ako nasasaktan, and I don’t deserve na ganituhin ako ng mga kasamahan ko sa LGU,” the former Vice Mayor said.
