Gina Pareño made clarification about her recent revelation
Veteran actress Gina Pareño clarified that she is not a lesbian following her recent interview on talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel.
During the interview, Gina revealed that she had a longtime relationship with Doktora Bong, also known as the late actress Nenita Vidal. With this, Ogie asked her if she could admit now that she is a member of the LGBTQ community and she said there’s nothing wrong with this.
Because of that statement of the veteran actress, different showbiz sites wrote that she revealed that she is a member of the LGBTQ community.
However, based on the article in PEP, Gina Pareño clarified that she is not a lesbian. She admitted that she had no idea about the LGBTQ term.
“Hindi ko alam ang mga LBM, LGU, LGBTQ na ‘yan,” she said, adding that she doesn’t want to be labeled like this as she was not aware of the term. “I’m all woman! Hello!” the veteran actress stressed.
Gina also explained that she needs to feel that she loves a person before she would enter into a relationship. She said that what happened between her and Dra. Bong, Milagros “Bong” Eraña in real life, was the first time in her life.
“First time ko na makipagrelasyon sa tomboy, pero hindi ibig sabihin, tomboy rin ako o member ng LGBTQ. Kapag ang puso ko ang tumibok, hindi importante sa akin kung member ka ng LGBTQ o kung anuman ang term na hindi naman ako pamilyar,” she explained.
Gina’s relationship with Dra. Bong started in 1993 but it lasted for eight years only because the latter passed away. After her showbiz career as Nenita Vidal, Bong became a dentist.
Gina shared that at first, she didn’t know that Bong was an actress of LVN because the latter did not say anything about her showbiz stint. The veteran actress said that she only knew about Bong’s acting career through her scrapbooks.
Gina Pareño also shared that Dra. Bong is a good person. The veteran actress easily felt at ease with the doctor when they first met. “Ang pagmamahal naman, walang kasarian. Basta huwag mo lang lolokohin ang sarili mo,” she said, adding that they never kept what they had.
