Wanted Fugitive Arrested by Authorities at NAIA After Applying for Police Clearance
OZAMIS, PHILIPPINES – The Philippine National Police arrested a wanted fugitive at NAIA after he applied for police clearance.
The 21-year-old man identified as Jason Salazar has been arrested by the authorities shortly after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The suspect is wanted for a murder case.
Salazar has been allegedly involved in killing a barangay secretary in Pasay City way back in January 2019. The incident happened when he was 18 years old and fled to hide in Ozamis for three years.
“Isa po yung gunman at isa yung getaway vehicle na nagdrive ng motor palayo ng crime scene,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Simpao of PNP-Avsegroup said.
On Tuesday (July 12, 2022), the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) apprehended and served an arrest warrant against Salazar who returned to Manila.
According to the police officers, the wanted fugitive has been traced after he applied for a police clearance in Ozamis, which is a requirement for his work at a fast-food chain. His name allegedly pop-ups in the system and the cops take immediate action.
“Gusto niya maging crew sa isang fast food chain para doon magtrabaho. Nagpop-up ‘yung pangalan niya sa system and then nagkaroon ng coordinations between Ozamiz PNP,” Pasay City Police chief Col. Cesar Paday-os said.
However, the suspect denied his involvement in the crime. Salazar also explained that he feared for his life and immediately leave to hide.
