Cops Arrest Credit Card Thief After Traced by Owner During Transaction
CREDIT CARD THIEF – A credit card thief has been arrested after he was traced by the card owner at a mall in Quezon City.
A male suspect has shopped at a certain mall in Quezon City using the credit card he stole from his victim. The card owner received a notification from the bank regarding the transaction after the thief used it for the second time to buy a phone worth P100, 000.
The victim learned that his credit card went missing after he received the notification from the bank. The card owner received a bank notification for the third time after the suspect used the card at a coffee shop on Timog Avenue.
The owner decided to visit the coffee shop and confront the thief. The victim was able to arrest the suspect with the help of a security guard, civilian police, and some shoppers in the area after trying to escape.
“Parang may tinapon po siya mga bagay, ’yun pala ’yung mga card na ninanakaw niya po kay victim mga card, nilaglag niya sa kanal,” coffee shop security guard Dexter Sinogba.
According to the police investigation, the thief stole the victim’s driver’s license and credit card at the gym when the owner left his bag while using the restroom. It was the suspect’s modus to prevent the owner to notice his illegal activity.
However, the unidentified suspect refused to give a statement regarding the incident. The victim also urged the bank management to impose stricter policies to prevent such incidents.
“Feeling ko mas makakatulong ’yun na kahit anong amount small or big, mas maganda na ma-inform nila ’yung clients na or siguro ’yung may PIN para alam nila kung sila ba gagastos,” the victim said.
The culprit is currently detained under police custody and will face charges of theft and violation of Republic Act 8484.
