Female Victim Loses Over P120, 000 After Someone Used Her Missing Credit Card

A female victim has expressed her disappointment after someone reportedly used her missing credit card to buy expensive gadgets.

The victim named Ciara Silvestre narrated that she lost her credit card last August 2021. She was about to pay her bills at the cashier when she noticed that her bag is open and her credit card gone missing.

After losing the credit card, her bills reached over P120, 000 after someone used it to expensive gadgets including four mobile phones in various electronics stores. BPI agent also informed her regarding the incident.

The electronics store cooperated with the complainant and caught the unidentified suspect using the missing credit card. She instructed the bank to freeze all the transaction but it was too late.

Silvestre has expressed her disappointment after the bank told her that she is accountable to all transactions from the stolen card. NBI could not give her further assistance for having no direct contact to the suspect.

“Nagpapaumanhin ho kami, hindi ho tama yung ganoong instruction doon sa complainant hihimay-himayin ho naming kung papaano niya nawala for us to make an assessment, syndicated ba to,?” NBI-Cybercrime Division chief Victor Lorenzo said.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands did not give a statement regarding the incident. The corporate affairs and communications manager Josefina Silvestre promised to investigate the incident.

The bank also promised to cooperate with NBI and complainant to resolve the case.

“Thank you pa rin po sa pag reach out po and pag try po na mag assist sa akin po ditto sa ano, then para po sa iba na may same po na case sa akin wag na lang po siguro nila isama yung mga cards po nila sa mga credit cards nila,” the complainant said.
