2 Dead & 2 Hurt During Elevator Accident in Makati City, NCRPO Says
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that two people died and two others were hurt during the Makati elevator accident.
On Friday morning (July 8, 2022), the elevator of a 38-story building located along Gil Puyat in Makati City suddenly collapsed for an unknown reason. The incident happened at Burgundy Corporate Tower in Brgy. Pio del Pilar, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
The tragic accident occurred while the victims were trying to repair the elevator on the sixth floor. The elevator car reportedly fell from the 38th floor down to the basement and struck the victims. Two victims died while two other elevator installers got injured.
“The abovementioned victims/deceased and with two other elevator installers… were fixing an elevator at 6th Floor when suddenly an elevator [coming] from 38th Floor accidentally fell to the basement that resulted [in] the death of herein victims and injured two others,” the report says.
BFP said that the Special Rescue Force – Makati respond to the scene around 03:46 am while an additional ambulance arrived around 06:44 am.
Makati’s SRF and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team as well as three ambulances respond to conduct a rescue and retrieval operation. SOCO operatives arrive at the area to process the scene.
