Bea Alonzo was supposed to do the series that was given to Ivana Alawi
Actress-vlogger Ivana Alawi stars in the new Kapamilya series A Family Affair and this was the shelved project of now-Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo.
Before the pandemic, Bea has already started shooting for a series in ABS-CBN. She was supposed to play the character of a girl who was adopted by a family and she will have four brothers.
Teasers were also released showing a scene of Bea with Richard Gutierrez, Rafael Rosell, Christian Bables, and Jameson Blake. The project was titled Kahit Minsan Lang.
However, based on the article in PEP, Star Creatives announced in September 2020 its decision to shelve the project due to the pandemic restrictions. In 2021, Bea Alonzo has officially signed a contract with GMA-7.
During an interview on June 15, the creators of A Family Affair confirmed that the series was originally the series that Bea already shot. However, director Jerome Pobocan said that the story has developed and was fitted for Ivana Alawi.
“Unang-una, if this project is tailor-made for Ivana, malayo na yung itinakbo ng istorya at saka iba yung casting noon, e. So ngayon, naiba na siya nang husto, it’s basically an Ivana project. So yun, kung anuman siya in the past, it was in the past,” the director explained.
In A Family Affair, Ivana’s character CherryRed became the adopted sister of the Estrella brothers (Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Jake Ejercito, and Jameson Blake).
Later on, CherryRed falls in love with Paco, the character played by Gerald and they got married. However, the conflict surfaced when the character of Ivana Alawi gets involved in an affair with Dave, the character played by Sam.
When the project was revised, Direk Jerome said that Ivana was the number one choice. He also said that since Bea and Ivana are two very different people, they can’t make a person play the role that was originally intended for another person.
