DOH Warns Public Regarding Old Face Mask Advisory

The Department of Health (DOH) has warned the Filipino people against the circulation of old advisory regarding the use of face masks.

On Thursday (June 16, 2022), the Health Department has clarified the circulation of old advisory instructing the public to limit the use of face masks to prevent its shortage. The agency explained that it was dated February 8, 2020.

DOH said that the circulating advisory has been announced way back in 2020 wherein the alleged shortage of face masks occurs. The department clarified that the public still needs to wear face masks.

Old Advisory

Hence, the correct health advice today is to always wear a face mask even under Alert Level 1, and especially when going to confined spaces with poor ventilation, crowded places with no physical distancing, and close-contact setting,” the health department said.

The agency told the Filipinos to always wear the best-fitting mask and isolate themselves when sick. The public should also get primary doses and boosters to protect themselves from the threat of COVID-19.

Apart from wearing the best-fitting mask, be sure to isolate when sick, double up protection with primary doses and boosters, and ensure good airflow to remain protected against Covid-19,” DOH said.
