Persona Non Grata in QC is Aiai Delas Alas but despite this declaration, she still resides there.
AIAI DELAS ALAS – Kapuso comedienne Aiai Delas Alas still lives in Quezon City despite being considered persona non grata by Quezon City Council.
To recall, actress Ai-Ai delas Alas and director Darryl Yap have been declared persona non grata in Quezon City for “disrespecting the city’s official seal”. In a previous article, the legal team of the Kapuso comedienne slammed the declaration because the “city council is nitpicking to find a basis to curb freedom of expression in the guise of defending a perceived dishonor“.
This declaration, dubbed as “disrespecting the city’s official seal”, was seen in a video where Aiai portrayed a character named “Ligaya Delmonte” – spoofing Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte. And behind her in the video is the city’s official triangular seal, which has been altered to read “BBM SARA”.
Persona non grata is not entirely banning a person to go into a particular place but will be considered an unacceptable or unwelcome person due to something they did or said.
And with this, she still goes to her home in QC despite the declaration. She’s been residing there since she was 10 years old and she believes that this is only applicable to foreigners and not to a Filipino like her.
She said, “Hindi ako ang gumawa ng triangle seal na ginamit sa video, kahit magkakorte kami.”
Also, after coming back from the United States, she actually did not feel unwelcome in this place. Moreover, she doesn’t plan on living anywhere else in Metro Manila. She will stay there and she will be loyal to this city.
